This morning, very early, I received the news that my Grandfather had passed away. It is very hard to deal with but knowing that he wanted to go makes it a little bit easier. He had his leg amputated last year after a blood clot and has just gone drastically downhill ever since. He and my grandmother, who have been married for 60+ years, both made the decision to refuse antibiotics if they were to get sick and have a DNR (do not resuscitate). He got pneumonia and refused the antibiotics and died in his sleep last night. For the last three years they have both been saying that they lived a great life but they were done.
I have my first u/s tomorrow, which will be a joyous day, then, later this week, I will fly to be with my Dad and attend my Grandfather's funeral.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers as my family (specifically my Grandmother) deal with this loss.

I lost my grandfather just a few months ago - so I know how hard it is. Your entire family will be in my prayers.
Awww...so sorry about your Grandpa.
It's funny how the circle of life just keeps going.
When you get a chance you'll have to read, if you haven't already, about our "circle." http://peppermintpattyg.blogspot.com/2010/03/march-19th-long.html
Can't wait to hear about your u/s!
I'm so sorry about the loss of your grandfather.
I hope that you will feel his loving presence at your u/s tomorrow.
Oh, Meghan. I'm so sorry to hear that. My grandfather passed away 5 or so years ago, and my sister-in-law almost didn't come to the funeral because she was terribly ill with what she thought was a flu. She ended up coming, and got her first BFP while we were all there together.
Thinking of you in so many ways...
I am so sorry for your loss.
Wishing you good luck for your ultrasound!
So sorry for your loss...thinking of you. Fran
Its so crazy how God at times takes one and give life to another close at the same time. This happened with me too on this IVF cycle! Grandad passed away in his sleep the same day we found out we're pregnant. Even crazier...the day before he passed away he told us it was twins...3 days ago at our ultrasound we found out its twins!!! I shared my testimony with my church and have it all on my blog. I'll pray that you're ultrasound goes great and that you'll have peace!
Sorry to hear about your Grandpa... thinking of you and your family.
Good luck at the u/s!
I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. It's so hard to lose a loved one.
I'm in a similar situation with my grandpa right now. We had to hire hospice and sadly, it's just a matter of time. He also is ready and I find some comfort in that.
I'm glad you get to go be with your family!
I'm so sorry for you loss
