I ♥ Craigsli.st

OK first, I am a total planner so this post might come as a shock to some of you since I am only 10 weeks pregnant but oh well, this is just me being anal and getting things ready.

I have to admit, I have been shopping, on Craigs.list for baby things. I figure we're going to have to buy A LOT of stuff so I might as well space it out so we can afford it all.

So far I have bought:
2 boppy bouncers
a fisher price papasan swing
a pack-n-play
and got two free boppies with those purchases (SCORE)

We are going to start buying diapers the next time we go to Cost.co so we can start stocking up. If those diapers don't work the great thing about Cost.co is that you can return them and get the cash back.

I know I will have a shower and get a lot of things but most things I don't mind buying used and would like to buy them gradually to save on having to spend a lot of money all at once. We also plan to get a gift card to Wal.mart and add $20 to it each time we are there so we can buy things once the babies come and again don't have to spend so much money all at once.

10 Weeks

Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

Last PIO

I am so happy to announce that tonight is my last PIO shot...,my butt will be soooo happy!!

9 weeks

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

Peace of Mind u/s

I went ahead and went in today for an u/s just for my peace of mind. I was able to have a normal u/s (no vag cam) so that was nice. All three babies look great. They are starting to look more and more like babies.

Heartbeats:
A: 170's
B: 190's
C: 180's

Next u/s is in 3 weeks when I am 12 weeks.

First Freak Out

This morning I woke up to let the dogs out about 6:30AM and went to the bathroom. When I wiped there was brown discharge as if I was getting ready to start my period. I've read everywhere that unless you have bad cramps and it's bright red not to be concerned that it's normal. Well, even though I've read it over and over I still freaked out a bit. I got on the message boards and called the on call nurse who said everything was fine and especially with IVF conceptions she sees spotting as late as 16 weeks with multiples. I felt better and went back to bed. The brown seems to be all but gone now. She said I could call tomorrow and see if they could fit me in for a viability u/s (which I think I might do). If I had an u/s next week or the week after I probably wouldn't but I'm freaked about having to wait for 3 weeks.

I'm off to shop with my mom this afternoon since I can hardly fit into any of my clothes anymore. I look like I am about 4-5 months pregnant right now (NO JOKE). The book I just got said it's normal for triplet moms to look like they are 3 months ahead of where they are. I have not gained any weight though and I need to gain 35 pounds by the time I get to 24 weeks! I will take a pic of me next week at 9 weeks and you ladies can see how huge my tummy is.

8 weeks

Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

Updates

- I am back from my grandfather's funeral and am so incredibly grateful I was able to attend.

- I made my appointment with the perinatologist for May 12th (I have to go 4 weeks w/o an u/s).

- Our interview for Fertility.Chase is this week (Tuesday and Wednesday) and I get a free u/s on Wednesday for the show (SCORE).

- I am having trouble eating the amount of food the nurse told me to in order to support these babies. She wasn't kidding when she said eating for this pregnancy was a full time job.

- I am terrified that we will go for our u/s this week and we will have lost a baby (vanishing twin).

I will leave you will pics of when we told each of our parents about the pregnancy...priceless.

Telling our Parents

Yesterday's news is starting to sink in a little more. I did wake up at 4 am though and go, "OMG, we're having triplets!!!" Needless to say, I couldn't get back to bed.

With the recent news of so many babies and in light of what's happening in our lives right now we've decided to tell our parents this week. I am going to see my dad on Thursday for the funeral and want to tell him in person even if we aren't that far along (he lives in AL so I don't see him but once a year). We are telling my mom and step-dad tomorrow night, and MIL this weekend (her bday is Thursday, what a great present huh?). We figured that like a lot of you said, we will need their support if anything happens and we're just too darn excited. Can you imagine their reactions?? They didn't even know we did a FET, now we're having triplets! WOW! I plan to take pics of each of them opening their present.

Here is what each is getting.

I had my first gagging experience over the toilet this AM but no throwing up...
Thank you for all the congratulations and even lurkers coming out to say hello.

I am honored to share our story with you all.

1st u/s

umm, it's TRIPLETS!!!

RE said I had a 20% chance of getting pregnant with one. A 3% chance that all three would take. All three implanted!

OMG!!

We are in shock (but thrilled).

Triplet A measure 6w6d
Triplet B measuring 6w6d
Triplet C measuring 6w4d (should I be concerned it's measuring two days behind?)

All heartbeats look great.

RE wants us to see a peri to talk about the risks of three and possible SR but we've already decided that's not an option. If God gave us three, we are having three.

Grandpa

This morning, very early, I received the news that my Grandfather had passed away. It is very hard to deal with but knowing that he wanted to go makes it a little bit easier. He had his leg amputated last year after a blood clot and has just gone drastically downhill ever since. He and my grandmother, who have been married for 60+ years, both made the decision to refuse antibiotics if they were to get sick and have a DNR (do not resuscitate). He got pneumonia and refused the antibiotics and died in his sleep last night. For the last three years they have both been saying that they lived a great life but they were done.

I have my first u/s tomorrow, which will be a joyous day, then, later this week, I will fly to be with my Dad and attend my Grandfather's funeral.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers as my family (specifically my Grandmother) deal with this loss.
